From September 2010 subs for children in St Laurence Scout Group (Beavers, Cubs & Scouts) will increase by £1 to £8 per month, payable on the first meeting of every month, except August. This is the first increase in very many years and reflects the increase in costs we experience to run our activities. We still beleive that this offers fantastic value for money to enjoy all the scouting adventure available at St Laurence.
It is a strong belief of the Group Executive that the cost of scouting should never stop any child from joining in with our activities, if you have any concerns over the cost of scouting please do speak with your section leader, in confidence.
Yesterday I found out that Masvil Cubs have worked so hard this year that we have once again been crowned the Most Improved Pack of the Year 2010! WELL DONE CUBS! I'm really proud of you and your efforts!
All year the cubs have worked really hard at their competitions, like the Chess and Draughts, the Brockhouse Shield, Football and Sports Day! We also won the TK Trophy and had some brilliant footballers in the County Football team! We'll get a trophy for this so I'll make sure it is passed around! Have a brilliant summer!
Masvil and Concorde Cubs both attended the District Chess and Draughts Competition today at Wheoly Hill and all of the Cubs played really well.
The Masvil team was made up of Andreas S, Josh B, Bethany B, Keaton B, Jake K and Jared T and from Concorde there was Nicola T, Jack K, Alex B, William P and Adam W.
With some really skillfull playing Masvil managed to come in overall second place for Chess and overall 3rd place for Draughts out of 14 packs! Also Andreas and Josh we're selected as the best players in the District for Chess and Draughts! Well done to both teams for doing so well!
Three St laurence Scouts from the Thomas family all received their Chief Scouts Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards on the same day.
